Evans used to make quite a few custom configurations but none of mine had a pot on the back. Are you sure it's not the fuse holder?

The Pot on the back of my '94 Evans FET 500 adjusts the pre-amp output, if you plug into the Pre-amp output jack, right next to it. I sometimes use it when I want to furnish a dry signal to the P/A system, to be mixed back into the stage monitors, so everyone in the band can hear me.
As a matter of fact, I just took my Evans Amp to Ed Buffington, in McLeansville, NC, last month for a going over, and sort of a "tune up". He changed out a resistor in the Pre-amp circuit to give more output for that purpose. He called it an update, since I had not had it back for anything since I bought it in 1994, when Darrell Stephens still owned the Evans Company. He also added a Thermyster as part of the update too. Hope this helps answer your question.

The pre-amp output on the back has very little output. It will drive a sound board and also drives my Tascam Cassette recorder.

On my FET 500, it's about 1.0 volt wide open, enough to drive most pre-amps. The power from this signal, will come from the power stage of what ever type Amplifier you choose to input to.
