HELP---!!! I am looking for a rack mount effects processor that has chorus, roto (leslie) and some reverbs---that can be punched up with a button (sort of like a stomp box) and punched off the same way. Looked at the Midi Verb 4, Lexicon MPX 100 and various others and these things have to be dialed in or use a foot switch (which we are too busy to use during a song) I want to push a button to turn on/off the effect ie: chorus, heavy reverb, roto. Any ideas or help would be greatly appreaciated.
PS Has anyone had any luck with a DTR-2 tuner??? I am considering getting one and would like some feedback on that if anyone is using it. Thanx

The Boss GX-700, while discontinued, has the capability of punching in or out one effect at a time, although none of my patches consist of only one effect. It doesn't have a "Leslie" button but does have a decent sounding patch that is a combination of several effects.
One thing to think about is do you want the same chorus, reverb, distortion, etc. sound everytime? If so an assortment of stomp boxes can be wired together so you can punch up one at a time, or you can punch a button on the GX-700. However if you want a wide variety of sounds with combinations of effects, a multi-effects rack box is what you need. My GX-700 is in a rack box with my Stereo Steel amp and I just rotate a knob to select the patch I want. That's even easier than punching buttons.

No, the only effects I use with my Steel are chorus, leslie and a couple of different reverbs, I don't play that much PURE steel sound, it's more folk rock type stuff behind acoustic people. But, I need the Pure stuff when I need it. No distortion, etc --- have all that on my Strat rig, want this to be clean and simple for the Steel. Thanks for the input, this is really confusing and getting expensive for something that should be so dadgum simple.

The closest thing I can think of is a Peavey Delta Fex unit. It doesn't have buttons but it has a rotary knob for reverb, leslie, etc. I think they are still made and they are relatively inexpensive, you should be able to pick up a new one for about $125 discounted.
Almost all the other multi-effect units get a little more complicated and you have to program the effect strings you want and then would have to have a remote MIDI controller to select the program. |
