Greetings Everyone,

Have any of you ever tried this unit? It is a very pricey pre-amp from Mesa Boogie and while it has tons of flexibility, I am just wondering if the thing is any good for steel. I have a friend who is thinking of buying one and I would not want to give him the wrong advise.

Thanks in advance,

Mark T.

This comment can apply to many posts over the years, not just this particular one.

Soliciting opinions from us players is a reasonably good idea. Maybe after acquiring a little knowledge about a product it would be a good idea to actually call the manufacturer for their opinion. This might give you some information not only about the product, but the people making and selling it as well.

A couple of months ago Mike Brown posted about a test he did with several Peavey amps. He tried a steel with all of them, reported his findings, and was even honest enough to say when he didn't like one of them. That speaks volumes in my book; to actually tell a customer that one of your own products isn't the right thing. Thanks, Mike.

Hi Mark,

You'll probably get an empassioned response here for any amp type you might ask about. But I use the Triaxis for both 6 string and steel into a Mesa SimulClass 90:90. I am very, very satisfied with its tonal versatility. I have never not been able to get the tone I was after. But I recommend you audition the thing yourself and let your own ears decide.

Cheers
