Profex11 Humming or Buzzing Noise

Post by PLAYSTEEL9 »

I use a profex11 with 1400 pevey amp, we run direct into the sound system thru di's between the profex and the amp, but with or with out the di's i get a disturbing humming buzzing noise, (worse at higher volumes) from my speakers. i have the lemay in the pro fex.
any ideas how to stop the noise or is it just the profex sound????
help, the buzzing keeps me awake during the last set Image Image

sounds like you have a ground loop problem. Does it "hum" when you go direct from the Profex II to the power amp? If not, then the DI box probably needs a ground lifter to eliminate the hum. Some DI boxes have this built in, some have provisions to patch in another plug to lift the ground and then some do not have the capability of ground lifting.

This ASSUMES all the cords, etc are all good.

Wayne,
In Jeff Newman's video on the Profex II, he warns us to not place the Profex on the pickup side of our guitar...
Have you tryed backing down the output signal and increasing the input?? or vise versa??

Chances are it's the DPC or the combination of the two.Every Profex II I've owned was as quiet as a mouse when they where pluged in the back of Nashville's. But with the DPC and Profex in a rack together, that's a whole different ball game.I've tried the ground lifts, moving the rack to left side, and mods. But still to much noise for me.But then I'm kind'a cranky.
[This message was edited by Bobby Boggs on 16 January 2001 at 05:38 AM.]
