I just received my new GD Walker amp/preamp a couple of days ago with the JBL 15" cabs. All I can say is the sound is incredible! My Zum never sounded so good! I traded in my GDW preamp that I used in conjunction with a QSC power amp with EV 12" cabs
All the electronics (amp/preamp, MPX1 and Korg tuner) occupy a four space case and can be quite easily carried as opposed to my previous system with the QSC amp which weighed a ton! The GDW uses a toroidal power transformer which keeps the weight down and the power up. This makes it really nice when haulin' it around. The speaker cabs are small and light weight also which makes the whole package very managable.
I could of purchased others amps for less money but I'm glad I went the GD Walker route, it's packed full of tone.

Jim,
Congratulations !! I've played Geery's Stereo Steel Combo for several years now and after many years of trying all kinds of different systems, Gerry's is by far the best I have ever played though . It has great sound, is user friendly and light in weight -- just what this old back of mine requires . My Zum sounds much better playing through it like yours does also.
I want to mention to you and other owners of the Gerry Walker amp system that if you ever have the notion to take the little amp cooling fan blade protector off in order to better access the fan blades for cleaning --DON'T DO IT !!!!
I did that and found out that the four screws that hold it on have nuts on them inside the cabinet . They (the nuts) will fall off inside and what a job you have then !!! They have to come out of there since one or more of them sliding all around in there can cause you to loose that fine amp if they make contact with a power source inside and short out the entire system . I thought I might save you and others using Gerry's System some long hours getting the amp back to a safe condition and all those nuts accounted for and re installed .You have to take the top off the amp in order to do all this and it is nerve racking ! Go to Radio Shack and get some real long cotton swabs , clean those blades the best you can with them and FORGET taking that protective fan blade cover off if you ever consider doing so .
Enjoy your Stereo Steel System! You will not find a better one in my opinion . BTW - I trying sending this to your forum e-mail address so as not to take up so much room here but it was returned to me twice . It could not be deliverd .
Regards,
John |

Was wondering if there is a brochure on the web describing this amp/preamp ---- is it one unit? Would this be a new addition to their product line? Is the preamp solid state or tubes?
Thanks,
