Seeing the Asher guitar on a previous thread reminded me of this: http://www.gibson.com/products/dobro/1996/newmodels/lapsteel.html

Does anyone know if this was ever actually made? (note the 1996 in the address).
Anyone ever seen one? Played one? Own one?
Nick

Even though Gruhn's Guide to Vintage Guitars lists this model in their list of Dobro guitars, I have never seen one of these, nor of any of the other models which Gibson planned on bringing out in 1996. The only references I've ever seen to these guitars are on Gibson's own web site.

Looks like you could just put a high nut on a Les Paul to me

I've seen that picture too. I sent an email to Gibson with the picture attached, inquiring about availablity, etc. No response.

Nothing like customer service, huh? I got the same kind of response from Danelectro for a technical question...NONE.

In 1985 Dobro offered a lap steel in 6,8,10 string, and it had a milk bottle shape. I wonder if any one got to buy one of those before they were canned.
