Does the Tubefex sound as good as the Transtube FX?

The TubeFex is the tubed version of the Transtube. The main difference is the TubeFex uses 12AX7 tubes in the preamp, where the Transtube uses transistors but designed to emulated a tube. The effects part of it is the same. I have a Transtube Fex and i believe there are a couple of functions, such as a headphone jack, that are not on the TubeFex.
Which is better?? Depends on whether you are into tubes. If you like tubes then the TubeFex is the way to go. However, the TubeFex lists for $200 more than the Transtube Fex.

hi rocky, you have the option on the tubefex of using the tube preamp or the global preamp which is transistor. In the global mode the tubes are off /not used.as far as sound,i think they are very much the same..
Jack is right ,no headphone jack on the tubefex, good ideal tho, wish I had it.

The Tubefex and Transtube Fex very much compete with each other. However, the main differences are that the Tubefex has an actual preamp tube and the Transtube Fex immulates a tube voicing via transistors. Also, the backpanel inputs and outputs are a bit different from the Tubefex. fyi.
