CMA Awards 2006

I Finally got to watch the CMA( YOU know what I really mean ) Awards 2006 over here.
If that is supposed to be country music.. I am a fan of something else.
The only uplifting point was Gretchen Wilson and the fact that Brad Paisley was nominated and got to WIN a couple of nominations.
The rest was utter BULL****!!!
Blonde bimbos and raggedy-ass rock bands with a glamour trash front figure...
Boring and pointless and with no musicianship at ALL.
Many bands had a steeler but waaaaay back in the mix if you were able to hear them at all.
I`ll take Bobbie Flores, Justin Trevino and anything Texan over the socalled "Top Country Artists" any day.
Long live "The Indies" who will keep REAL country alive for the years to come.
Just my opinion.

Uwe,Sure is nice to know some one besides myself thinks the same way about this ABSOLUTE %^$# they call country music today. But what can you say, when millions of people have been brain washed by the [muSick]industry into thinking that the acts of today are country. It take more than trilling a mike stand, distored Les Pauls and a cowboy hat to be country.

Iam with you on this one. If that is country music I want nothing to do with it.

I 100% agree aboutTexas,IMO some of the best musicions on the planet is from Texas in ALL STYLES.It's must be a breeding ground for steel players, they are the best.Austin based Dale Watson is the BEST honkey tonk and country singer we have today,That's a fact NO ONE can deny, period!!!!

PS,You wontant see Dale on ANY of these so-called country awards shows,He's just to good and scares the hell out of them,he can actually sing on key, does'nt need cheap theatrics to cover up lack of talent like the majority of [country?] acts of today. This man gives his fans the REAL DEAL ,no fluff,no crap.

Charles, Agree with on the Dale Watson stuff. Love the track on the "Live in England" CD, "Country My Ass". Says it all. Seems to me that all the "New Country" is just using all all the flash and extravaganza of the days of 70's rock
show performances. Don't hear much talent.

Two other songs by Dale tell it like it is also. Please Mr,DJ,and Help me Merle.I make comments about Dale here anytime I see an opportanity to do so.I try to turn as many on to him as I can.As far as REAL country ,he is light years ahead of ANYONE in this so-called top 40 crap that you hear today. If by chance any of you guys are not familiar with Dale, and you love country music played as it should be,check him out and support him. Some nitwit music producer said he was TOO country for country,Might be the same dummy that told Johnny Cash the same thing.I guess some of the artist such as Elton John or Bon Jovi[which I like both]show up on these award shows and are considered country.Hell no they are not.

A female duo named "The Wreckers". They sure wrecked the music that`s for sure.
Absolutely no talent whatsoever.

"Top"-artist that couldn`t carry a tune.
Outside the studio, many of todays artists are lost without their pitch correcting devices. If we delivered that kind of performance we would be boohed off stage.
As you probably can tell I was "somewhat" disappointed with this show.
I wonder what goes through the minds of people like Little Jimmy Dickens when they
have to witness stuff like this.

And that guys like Rod Stewart, Van Morison, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, and Bruce Springsteen are all touring with fiddle and steel players while the so called "Country" acts are doing without.

I agree about about the [Wreakers]They should be called the Butchers, for they can surely butcher a song.Even saw them on the tonight show this week. How does this happen, when great artist such as Dale Watson or Jr.Brown are ostracized by the [muSick]industry.I have seen many artist over the years with real talent struggle their whole life trying to get a recording deal to no avail, then you see absolute no-talent crap such as the Wreakers on national TV,makes you wonder, were is the justice in this. The same goes for writers today, where are the Harlen Howards or Cindy Walkers today,Instead we get Bo-donk-a donk,or Batter,Batter.Absurd!!!

I don't know if I would go so far as to say that "The Wreckers" have no talent or are song Butchers. I will say that they aint country.

In fact until just over a year ago Michelle Branch(of The Wreckers) was a pop/rock star, maybe not a big star but she has had a half a dozen songs in the top 40. She has written songs for "pop princesses" Mandy Moore and even won a Grammy with Carlos Santana for "Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals" in 2003.

Not much country music going on in all of that. Since the Pop/rock radio industry has been overtaken by Rap/hip-hop now anything with an acoustic guitar and slightly legible vocals gets classified as "Country".

[Not much country music going on in all of that]EXACTLY my point!
