.. I turned on the local ""country"" radio station and heard this AWFUL thing... It is easily among the most dreadful and obnoxious "offerings" I have ever had the misfortune of hearing.. I never turn the ""country"" stations on anymore, and the one time I did,I got smacked in the face with this thing... I won't happen again.
Even the fine steel playing could not lift this dead dog up.
Can anyone name the "artist"??.. It will be a great help in avoiding this horrid "song"... I continue to lament the sad state of "modern country" music...bob |

It appears I am not the only one who does not listen to country radio today. Our local station plays the older country with the likes of George Jones, Tammy Wynette, Conway Twitty, Loretta Lynn and some of those other greats who sang real country music. Of course, when I listen to those singers I hear some great steel playing. I turn my radio on when I go to bed and let those steelers put me to sleep. I woke up in the night and heard Buddy Emmons playing on a Ray Price song. Now that is great country music. In my opinion, what they play today is awful and just stinks. But that is just my opinion. |

After I read Bob C.'s post I searched the few stations left for the song, I listened to it carefully (obviously with a predjudiced approach after reading this thread) and SURPRISE, I feel the same way most of you feel. I've read some of Matt's reviews before and he really, at times, hits the nail on the head. I felt the impulse to write him an email and here it is:
"If country music is to continue to grow and attain new listeners, like the ever important money spending young generation, then they need more artists like Jameson Clark."
Matt, you used to have some good common sense in your reviews, but it's apparent the "Suits" have gotten to you, or you have somehow gotten bubbles in your think tank and most of them have burst. How in the hell can you make such a statement. Here you have a blubbering one track mind set excuse for a singer, playing like a blood sucking leach for the benifit of the good name of "Country Music". Has to be because he couldn't be accepted in any other Genre of music. That's the trend now a day, right?
Matt, it's critics like you that are under the "good influences of the Suits in town" that are killing "real country". Give it some thought the next time you get ready to give the world your idea of Salvation. We, who play Real Country at least deserve that. If it wasn't Murder on Music Row, then it damned sure has to be known as Grand Larceny there.
Were you sober when you wrote this review or maybe just got up on the wrong side of the bed and decided it "was your day" to render "a great opinion" for salvaging country music? In my area it's reviews like this one that come under the category heading of BS.

That's why IPods are so popular now. You can just listen to what you want, and tune out all the rest. Forget commercial radio - you'll never find anything of artistic value or integrity there anymore. Sometimes the cream on the top can be sour, so to speak. So why not just turn it off?
