They were a well known class singing act back in the day.

Great if you like that female harmony, a' la', the Andrews Sisters, the McGuire Sisters, and the Lennon Sisters. With Alvino and his orchestra in a backup role, I doubt there'd be a whole lotta steel.

There is more steel than you would think in other albums that I have of the Kings w/ Alvino. I don't have the one you picture so I can not be for certain. For some real good reading purchase Luise Rays; Alvinos wife; book titled "Those Swingin Yrs". Great tech info and fun to read, especially what happened on their wedding night. I goy mine from their web site. Very reasonable. CC

The fourth voice gave the King sisters an advantage over most of the other girl groups of the period. Their very advanced harmonic ideas are evident on the LP in question, which I have owned since it was first issued.

I don't know, but I think it's definitely worth looking for more photos.

Yes, seek out there music. They did a wonderful version of "Take The A Train" and are well beyond anything Phyllis McGuire or any of her sisters ever thought of. Not just pop/novelty dreck. Not much hot instrumental soloing, but some great harmony singing and arrangements.

I've heard several of their recordings,& would compare their harmonies w/ their male counterparts,The Four Freshmen!

Lster in their career the King sisters were part of a large group called the King family. This was in the mid-1960s. I believe they also had their own television variety show or did several television specials. They also toured and as a small boy I was taken to their concert they did for the Ak-Sar-Ben civic organization in Omaha, Nebraska (Nebraska spelled backwards is Aksarben), I was only about four years old but remember vividly that the whole group was dressed to the nines in very formal finery, the men in beautiful tuxedos with red sash down the front and the women in beautiful long gowns with tiaras in the big bouffant hairdos. We got to meet them after the show and being so young, imaginative and impressionable I beileved that they were actually real kings and queens! As I was introduced to some of them I made a bow and said "pleased to meet you, your majesty!"(On another show I around the same time I saw the New Christy Minstrels and they were great, too!)

I have the Aloha album and highly recommend it as a great example of the King Sisters harmony and Alvino Rey's playing.
