New Band Name

by Daryl Stogner
OK, we're starting up a new band in January with the idea there will be some new country, but alot of old country songs being played. When it comes time to name the band, I'd like some ideas to have at the ready to throw out to the other members.
It should have a country feel to it, and humor in the name is good too. With all of you characters out there, I'm sure there must be a few ideas floating around. Something new though, don't want to borrow one from anther band, past or present.
The current band I'm in is called the Big Johnson's.... go figure.

Daryl,
I asked for band names on the forum years ago and got alot of thoughtful responses. Maybe the thread can be resurrected.
The upshoot was, as a 5 piece band, we went out as "Five Easy Pieces".
Trouble was, around here, nobody had ever seen the Jack Nicolson movie, and everyone assumed perhaps we were a Chippendales act.
It would be hard to gauge the disappointment, in actuarial terms.

Daryl; here would be my choice:
The Prairie Dogs
I don't have a band, so you can have it.
If I had one, it'd probably be
The Panhandlers.

How about the ever-popular: "Daryl Stogner and the Sidemen" ?

I'm not a big country kind of guy, but if I was I would absolutely have to go out as "Tyrannosaurus Tex and the Strange Range Ramblers." If LSD ever makes a big comeback, I'd have to start a band called "The Orbs." Unless, we went for the skinny tie/Buddy Holly nerd-glasses look, in which case we'd be "The Problematics." Unless... oh stop me, puh-lease.

Ok, I can't leave well enough alone either. So, how about, instead of "Asleep at the Wheel", how about "Awake in the Ditch"?
Yeah, I figgered you'd say that, so after I thought about it awhile, I agree with you. Ok, I'll get back in my hole and take my meds.

DisBand
JimmyD, just joking, that name would have well suited the bands I played in.

You guys are nuts, but I like some of these names. Don't want my name in the title, as I prefer to remain anonymous and probably should wear a mask while playing!
But seriously this band will sound good, but humor in the name would be good.
Since there will be a female fiddle player that kicks butt in the band, that might give you something more to work on. But please stay away from the name "Bitch and her Dogs" .....my ex already has taken that name.
JUST KIDDING!
Anymore thought???

Well, I think Steve Hitsman's name takes the prize. You should definitely go with the Yuman Beans.
Unless you prefer the Yuma Babies
If you were from Indiana, I'd recommend the "Hoosier Daddies"

Down in Yuma eh?
If you were up here by Pinal County you could call yourselves "Pinal Envy"
Jim, I like that Hoosier Daddies!
[This message was edited by Jack Francis on 10 December 2005 at 07:45 AM.]

[This message was edited by Jack Francis on 10 December 2005 at 07:46 AM.]

When I think of Yuma, it reminds me of the Sidewinder Scale House. MAybe the Sidewinders?
Sidewinder Breakdown--gotta have a song with that name.
Yumama! Yumatose, Yumatic Overdrive
I always wanted to call a band, The Paul Carusoe Band, in memory of the alien that Hendrix played in the song EXP. Only those in the know would get it, but when they did it would blow their minds.

How many are in the band?
Call it
"The Four Gone Conclusions"
or
"The Five Gone Conclusions"
You get the picture!

Viagra Country Style? No copyright infringement.... shoot!
Here's a poster from the current band I'm in...
Helps having an advertising guy in the band!
Yuma is almost unrecognizable these days. Everyone is escaping from Califronia to here and there are more new housing divisions than people can buy up.
Sand? in Yuma? Oh we could use "The Sonoran Cowboys"? Or what do ya think of "Old Guys in Cowboy Hats"?
I'm putting everyone's suggestions into a list to give to the band. So keep 'em coming. I see some potential ...
