On my way to work Monday afternoon at 1:45 P.M. our local Jazz station KPLU (Tacoma,Wa.) played the song, Java Jive by The Manhattan Transfer. To my surprise I was hearing a steel guitar playing along with the singers. I was even more surprised When the DJ announced that it was the Mahattan Transfer doing the Java Jive and Cindy Cashdollar was playing the PSG with the group.

"Java Jive" was done back in 1997. It is from their "Swing" CD. Asleep At The Wheel are on some of the cuts including that one. Buddy Emmons and Steve Hinson are on some of the others. That is a great CD that I play lots from it on my "Swingin' West" radio show.

Actually I don't think Cindy would have been playing a PSG. As far as I know she only plays non-pedal steel.

Non-pedal and dobro. Cindy is a really fine dobro player.

Perhaps some of y'all caught the rebroadcast of the Prairie Home Companion 30th Anniversary show on PBS the other night. Cindy was featured in the band and played some excellent dobro. Also standouts were Andy Stein and Peter Oshtrushko on fiddles, guitars, mandos, saxes, et al.

A transfer pass won't do you much good these days. Do you see the irony of your post?
