That Bobbe Seymore mentioned in his news letter. Has anyone tried one of these, and if so, how much like a dobro do they sound?

anybody know? I think he said it cost about $299 or somewhere close to that. Dobro simulator I think is what he called it. Has anybody used one of these and did it sound like a dobro?

Yes Terry, there is a unit called a MatchBro that was produced by Goodrich, the pedal people. I'm not sure if it's being made any more. Bobbe Seymore has a similar unit for sale, but I can't remember the exact name of it. Under the right conditions, it can sound pretty good IMO. Probably the most convenient way for a player to 'double' on psg and 'dobro.' |

Bobbe's is called the Bro, or Bo-Bro.
I love mine. Great tone, great price. Comes with a battery eliminator and a tone bar.

On Jeff Newman's pre-set for the Peavy Profex's (I believe, [not sure] it pre-set 113- labeled "Dobro?" (question mark included in the window). There are two Dobro pre-sets on the Newman Casche Card, but I believe this one is the better of the two. In my opinion, I think it sounds as much like a Dobro as anything on the market, and it's included at no extra charge on the card. The card is not available anymore, but you can probably find a friend to download it for you, if you are using a Profex.

Terry, I saw Steve Hinson last week with Randy Travis and I believe he was using one of Bobbe's Bo'Bro's. I need to confirm that because I simply HAVE to have one. That was hands down the the best Dobro simulation I ever heard.
Of course, it helps to have Steve's phenomenal gifting as a steeler. But, it really sounded great. |
