No steel, but nice vocals by Dee Specker, nice fiddle and piano.. this is "Western Swing Lite".. Thats how I would classify it.. The band was called Circle D..
I played the scratchy electric guitar parts.. they are not awful, but the tone was poor.. At the time[1992] all I had was a crappy Ibanez strat copy, with rusty strings.. If I had used a nice fat sounding semi hollow and played the exact same parts, I would have liked what I did.. as it is I am unhappy with my electric guitar parts... tone was not very good.. playing was fair.
Dan Speer wrote this tune and he is a truly great storyteller .. Its about the owner of a diner/honkytonk... enjoy.. bob

Hi Bob, Tried to give this a listen, but no luck. Says there is a network failure somewhere? I'm not sure if that means it's my computer, or the freefilehosting network? I've not had this problem with that site before....

Bob, are you serious about the hollowbody? I thought the guitar sounded fine- maybe a Tele, but not hollowbody! Cute sounding little song!

Jim.. I think a big sounding hollow or semi would have been a better sound.. That old Ibanez sounded dead to me.. toneless..but, I DO appreciate the nice words.. It IS kind of a cute song.. bob |

Bob, Thats a nice little swing. I enjoyed this as well as your last post of that era. All-around top-notch playing and singing there.
Good songwriting like that is a rare art form you don't hear much of today. Nice effect with the walking bass turn-arounds, too.

Hi Bob, that's some great music. I very much like the style on this! I tend to lean towards music with vocals attached because I think a lot of vocals actually enhance the musicians playing...and this was wonderfully done here. I listened to your other piece posted in another thread and truly enjoyed it, also. Thanks for sharing this with us.
Just another bit of info....earlier I said I couldn't listen to this because the freefilehosting site wouldn't allow me to...but I found out my husband downloaded an update to my zone-alarm, and that's what prevented me from accessing it. I saw where b0b can never get your stuff to download for him either...wonder if it's his virus protector that prevents it, like mine did today. Just a thought for anyone else that may be having trouble.
