One of my many music related hobbies is live concert archiving. I do this for a number of bands(mainly country and bluegrass, some rock and classical) and have a very professional recording setup, portable, about 10,000 dollars worth of equipment. Top Notch mics, preamps, and a sound devices 722 HD recorder, as well as a wendt 4 channel mixer.with all silver XLRs and interconnects.. at any rate, if yall are comin over here(germany) and want a professional quality recording, give me a holler. i dont charge nothing but gas and a beer and grub. its just a hobby of mine. I can make either 24 bit DVDA or standard 16.44.1 Cd quality recordings..Holler.
I will also do this when I go back stateside next year(NC) so let me know if yall want some recordings of your gigs.

TR,
Very impressive. Beats the heck out of my mobile unit (Southland was recorded on it)
If you're ever in Lubbock, I'll record you.
(I've got more tracks now.) |

Nice setup charlie!! I love that analog sound man! digital sounds so harsh and sterile. Thats why Ive incorporated a transformer based preamp into my rig, to give that "tube" sound, that warmth that I love so much. The mics I own, Microtech Gefell, are very warm too. German Mics are unparalelled. Im in the process of building a tube based playback system as well. Its costly and i have to do it one piece at a time...I was impressed with the recording...what is the gear you use??

Well, it's actually digital (Zoom). I'm hurting in the mic department. Gotta get me a couple pricey German mics someday. |

Zoom makes nice stuff. So can you tell what each component is??
I have a lot of experience with on site live recording, but I need a rig at home to do a album with, ive got about 6 cds worth of material that Im dying to lay down, and 4 or six tracks will do nicely. As far as my mics go,,,well..I have a set of Microtech Gefell M20s and M21s and 27s(cards, hypercards and omnis, respectively)
a set of AT4050 LD mics, and for some stuff I use DPA mics, which are amazing. Gefell in my opinion is the best mic manufacturer around.
If you ever want me to grab something for you here, just say the word. I get tax free and dont pay customs.
