I had the opportunity to see Clint at my alma mater, the U of A, in Fayetteville, AR last night. Man what a player. I already had been exposed to him via an old boot leg Merle Haggard concert years ago and Clint's instructional video. I still was not prepared for what I heard. He was awesome. The back up band was a piano, bass, and drums. They were from Fayetteville and Clint mentioned he had not had the opportunity to rehearse with them but a short while prior to the concert. For the most part he played a Parker Fly through a Polytone. He chops are amazing. Not only that, he actually played requests most of the evening. The arrangements were put together off the top of their head. Someone requested 'Moonlight in Vermont'. He sang some goofy licks he said that Merle had made up on the bus. Someone requested that he play a blues song toward the end of the show. During the song he interjected 'Milk Cow Blues', and 'Workin' Man Blues'. It was a hoot. During 'Come Rain or Come Shine' he played a few pedal steel string bending licks. For an encore he played 'Sweet Georgia Brown' during which he started trading fours with the drummer. For one of his breaks he played the famous lick from 'Mamma Tried.' It was too funny. If any of the other concert goers had ever heard it I couldn't tell by their reaction.
All in all it was a super concert.
Randy

Man I'm envious, I love Clint Strongs playing. I have an instructional video where he plays several complete songs as well as describe licks and runs. He also plays on one of Tom Morrell's Time Warp Tophands CD's, which is in my player right now. He plays some amazing stuff on that one too. I think it is the Pterodactyl Tales CD.

I saw him about 3 weeks ago at Floore's Country Store(in Helotes Tx)with Ray Price and it was very impressive....Mike Cass was also present and sounded great on his GFI run thru a Fender Twin.
