What a show!! Craig Fuller still sounds fantastic, the other singer/guitarist was aces, and as a bonus, there was a steel player!!!!!! The guy had wonderful tone, played some tasty licks and was a whale of a fiddle player to boot!! What a pleasant surprise!!! I think they said the gentlemen's name was Fats Kaplan? Well, whatever his name was, it was money well spent.

Fats Kaplan is a multi-instrumentalist who used to play and tour with Tom Russell. He turns up on a lot of recordings in the alt country/No Depression genre. He's real skinny, too.

I think he also toured with Manhatten Transfer at one time, maybe still does. I think he played an old Sho Bud.

He had a single neck Emmons push/pull that night. At first when I saw it sitting on stage, I thought to myself, "that's weird, I thought Rusty Young played a Carter." Then I realized happily that PPL had a steel player!!
