Guys, I have a Fender Montero acoustic/electric that I need to adjust the string height on. The string height at the nut is just right, it's from about the 4th or 5th fret and higher that are to high.
First, do I need to relax the strings to adj the truss rod, and next, can't I take the saddle off and cut it down to lower the strings a little. which do I need to do first, or does it matter.I know lowering them to much will effect the tone, but I can't play the thing like it is. This guitar has good tone, and I really can't afford to get another guitar right now, so I'd appreciate any help I can get from ya'll.
Thanks
Terry

Thanks for the link.

I've decided to take it to our local music store.
