Has anyone played the Amistar's yet? A metal body that has an affordable price tag. Wonder how the sound is on the tri-cone, and the f-hole n body ?

The Amistar resophonic guitars are distributed in the USA under the Johnson brand name. These are different from the Chinese-made Style O guitars I've seen which are also distributed under the Johnson brand name.
From what I've seen, these are very nice guitars. I haven't seen any squareneck Johnson tricones. Everything I've seen has had a round neck for regular guitar playing. I'm sure they would sound good even with a Hawaiian nut adapter.

According to Jim, the Dean Resonator is a great bang for the bucks guitar. Prefering it over the Amistar/Johnson. Something to look into, thanks for the tip.

OK I got it! Melobro. It took me awhile to warm up to the idea of a glass body, but ya know what, those things sound pretty sweet! normally I'd want wood or metal, just the kinda guy I am. But, you all know where the entry level is with Gibson/Dobro, and National. Melobro is half that amount. Has anyone here on the Forum played one yet?

I own several Dobros and a Melobro. The Melobro sounds as good if not better than my best sounding Dobro. It's a good value in my opinion and invulnerable to the usual nicks and dings. You may have a healthy waiting period though.
