The evening country music show on the BBC radio yesterday was a listener request show.
I thought that you might be interested in the playlist.
This is what UK country music fans want to hear in the 21st Century.
What do you think- I enjoyed the show a lot.
Seemed like something for everyone, though I'd say that there was more tendency to pick enjoyable recordings of good songs rather than sticking to certain sub genres only.

Thats a pretty diverse cross-section of country that you posted. I liked it because it has balance. Lots of different styles and approaches. I wish US radio was that diverse. I would listen more often.

Hi Dave

An intriguing question - how much does the request show reflect the choice of the DJ - Nick Barraclough and how much is he influenced by public opinion. After all, this is the only country show (other than Bob harris) on mainstream UK radio.

The TV over here is useless if you like country music.
I remember enjoying highlights from Wembley in the late seventies with Lloyd and Buddy and the excellent Charlie McCoy.
Cheers, Arch.

Dave, I think that if mainstream US country radio playlists were more like this, most of us would probably stop griping about the state of country radio.

Yup. If that was the top playlist here in the US, there would't be any griping and complaining from me.

Check out Dale Watson's CD that was recorded in London a few years ago...Ricky Davis is on steel. Great album, and the crowd is so into it that you'd think it was recorded in Austin. Great stuff. There has always been a large number of country fans over there.
