I was watching the midwest country show tonight, and saw a young lady singing by the name of Becky Shlegel, Man What a great voice..
I was wondering if she has out any Cds or how to get in touch with her... I think She has a great voice, but the band left alot to be desired!
Thanks for the help!
Mike

Assuming her last name is "Schlegel", she has her own website here:

A few years ago, I saw this show on TV from my room at a Casino in Northern Mn. that I was playing at, I thought the show was very local sounding, but, much to my surprise, they went to an archive segment from about ten years earlier, completely different band & location, that band had a piano player, a young blond fellow playing great fiddle & an older dark haired gent playing a light colored Mullen, the bass player sang, San Antonio Rose, & the steel & fiddle did a twin run up on the bridge that was awesome! anyone know who they were? kr

Mr. Al Udeen!! I agree that he played "San
Antonio Rose" awesome.

Becky is a wonderful performer. Unfortunately, her performances at Midwest Country are not her best. When I have worked there when Becky was on the bill she was using the house band. Not sure if she has used her own band at Midwest Country or not. Not that the house band doesn't do a nice job, but I don't think Becky has found her groove with them.

For some reason Becky doesn't seem to cut loose at Midwest Country. Part if it is the owners telling her what to do. They want her to do more of the mainstream clasic country rather than what she does well at when playing the clubs in Minneapolis and what she gets the good reviews for. The owners of Midwest Country see her as just another local singer, wet behind the ears. They don't realize that Becky has her own audience and has gained national attention, because of hard work and talent.

Becky's CDs are wonderful and the shows she does at the clubs in the Twin Cities area with her own band are great. She has a great traditional sound and doesn't rely on a lot of standards.

Glenn! Thanks for the kind words! Kyle! The fiddle player on that show, was Bruce Hoffman who has been the top fiddle player in Branson for the past 10 or 12 years, this was told to me by Buck Trent in 96 when I was visiting Bruce in Branson, The Midwest Country show mentioned above, was taped at the Park Inn in Brooklyn Center Mn.in 92, the show also featured "old Bluebird" Marvin Rainwater, and was one of our better shows, during my tenure with the original Midwest Country Show!
