Raven guitars, which were made on Korea (I've been told they were made at the Ibanez factory, but do not know if this is true) went out of business 2 or 3 years ago following the sudden and unexpected death of the company's owner. Now the man's estate, including about 30 brand new guitars in their original boxes is being auctioned off on E-Bay.

I have one of their guitars and can attest to their quality. They are not in quite the same league as Gibson or Gretsch, but they are certainly thoroughly professional grade instruments, more than adequate for both gigging and recording, and in terms of bang for the buck, were when originally sold, probably the best value around.

These guitars on the auction are even cheaper. Definately a good deal for somebody looking to buy a quality guitar at a low price.

Guitars in this price range typically retail between $350 and $495.00. The Korean product is generally better than guitars coming out of China, although they are improving all the time. If you can buy a Raven in the $300 price range, it is a good deal. Keep in mind the company is gone, so parts are not available, but most could be replaced with common generic parts. I have a Raven Paul Reed Smith copy, and it is a really nice, great playing guitar.
