Great American Country sold to Scripps

Jones Media Networks Sells Country Cable/Satellite Channel
Great American Country goes to The E.W. Scripps Company, which
operates the Scripps Networks, for $140 million in cash. As part of
the deal Jones agrees to provide cross-promotion for GAC using
affiliates of Jones Radio Networks, a subsidiary of JMN. Jones
started the 24-hour country channel eight years ago; it now reaches
34 million rated households. GAC becomes the latest in the Scripps
portfolio of niche channels, along with Home & Garden Television,
Food Network, DIY (Do It Yourself Network) and Fine Living.
