Bunny Rabbit and Grandfather Clock thank you!

I don't know who did the original theme song, but it always reminded me of LeRoy Anderson's version of "Sleigh Ride".

Yes my childhood is passing before my eyes.
Lots of talk about the cartoons Tom Terrific
and Lariet Sam.

And keeping on topic remember how many of
Rosemary Cloony's children's recordings were featured.

I grew up with the Captain too. I played with a hippy bluegrass country rock band for a while in Massachusetts back in the 70's. They did a killer mandolin and banjo medley of the Captain Kangaroo theme song and Sleigh Bells.

I remember watching the Capt. Mostly I remember wondering if Mr. GreenJeans really wore green jeans. We couldn't afford a color TV. My sister and me would take turns standing at the atenna pole so it would be clear enough to see and hear what they were saying. While she was wiggling the antenna, I was banging on side of the TV.

I'd forgotten about Grandfather Clock, one of my favorites.
Thanks for jogging the memory cells that the oldtimers disease hadn't gotten to yet.
Rest in peace kindly Captain.

The Captain was an authentic, life saving WWII military, combat HERO. How many of you knew that?

David, sorry I don't remember the band's name or any of the member's name. The one guy that stands out in my memory had long frizzy straight hair and beard, kind of like the ZZ Top guys. He wore a stove top hat and completely cracked me up one night when he pulled his beard up over his face, tucked it into his hat, and looked just like Cousin It from the Addams Family!

the title of the Captain's theme was "Puffin' Billy" (a reference to a train) and was originally from a British "Broadcast music library"...
