Does anyone have this song downloaded and could send it to me.I think Gene Watson did a version of it but it's not on any of my albums and I can't find it on WinMx.

Forumite Bill Stafford in Gulfport, MS, has recorded it as an instrumental and likely has the Wade Ray original, but I'm only guessing on that one.

Johnny Cox has a great rendition of it on his "Ballads, Shuffles and Swing" and I think he used Curly Chalker's guitar on it.

Big E has a great version on one of the Swing series records. Great singing and killer steel.

Don,

If you are interested in the Gene Watson version - it is on the album "Should I Come Home" from 1979 (Capitol ST 11947). It is a very unusal version because it is played as a strict country ballad, no swing. Great version, though, Sonny Garrish plays some beautiful Steel on it.

Regards, Walter

Sammi Smith also recorded "Heart Of A Clown" and sang the fire out of it. Her version was slower, not a swing version.

The Pennington/Emmons "Goin' Out Swingin' features Curtis Potter/vocals on Heart Of A Clown.

A live vocal version of HOAC is on the Curtis Potter & The National Swing Band of Texas Live CD. This CD features Steve Palousek on steel.
