Jeremy,
You are absolutely right!
It wouldn't really surprise me if that's a true story!

What's their(Harrison's estate) definition of "forced".
It sounds like the doctor asked for Harrison's autograph for his kids and got it. Did he threaten to not give George pain medication if he did sign?
I don't get why the Harrison estate thinks that they should get the guitar and cards, weren't those the property of the doctor's in the first place.
Is this "estate" the same person that sued Delaney Bramlett, and tried to get that rosewood Tele that George gave to him years ago? |

IMHO -- Even if it's true, So What? Whoever is responsible for making an issue of it has much too much time on their hands.
Also, from what little I know about the tendencies of the human race at various times in the past to commit heinous acts of cruelty -- this is WAAAAAAAAY down the list. |

Reminds me of the "Cubs Ball" thing.
Somebody obviously realised that the "Last Autograph" would be worth a million bucks decided to have a hundred thousand dollar lawyer try to get it for them.
I Like Dogs.
No matter what, a Dog will NEVER act like something he or she is not.
People, on the other hand can be a "Snake". "Pig" "Weasel" "Shark" " Alligator" "Vulture" or any number of God's Myriad Creatures on a moment's notice.
Even without any prospect of gain.
Throw a million bucks in the mix, and looky what happens. Even to Steel Players....

Ridiculous. You can't "force" a dying person to do anything. |

Another Reality Check!!!
I think thats going a bit too far, After all it wasn't the entire human race that was involved in this, Sounds like two people were, Harrison and the Doctor. Who were the witnesses that heard and saw all of this going on, I find it hard to believe anything printed in the National Enquirer or any of those type rags.[This message was edited by John Floyd on 08 January 2004 at 09:26 AM.] |

At worst, it was insensitive- docs deal with sickness, death and dying every day, and they sometimes forget how horrible it all is to the victims and their families. I seriously doubt George was "forced". He was a really nice person, by all accounts, who probably really wanted to do something nice for this kid.
In the deep throes of grief, sometimes people want to find someone to blame for their loss.
Based on what I have heard about George, I don't think he would've intitated this lawsuit.

Pretty strange stuff..
Someone who wasn't there knows exactly how it went down.." we allege.."
I guess the positive side of this story is that the good Dr. didn't bring all of his friends guitars for autographs as well..or invite his pals to the bedside for the last Tea..
"Ok, the line forms to the rear ..back on the Ireland Border"...

Even if he wasn't forced it does sound lie he was badgered into it at a very vulnerable time.
I can see why the doc would ask,
but if GH demured, that should have been that.
But to cajole or in any way push a person clearly on their deathbed to do anything they didn't want to just do,
is a new low in insensitivity at best.
Nausiating at the least. |
