Several months ago I purchased a CD, "The Best Of Louis Jordan." On this CD is a song called "Barnyard Boogie" that was recorded in 1947. Towards the end of the song there is a steel guitar solo that sounds a bit like Speedy West,IMO. Does anyone know who the steel player is?

Right you are about Buddy Johnson. A great, underrated band, and Buddy's sister Ella is one of the coolest singers of all time. We've started a new topic here, great jump and r&b steel.
