| I have been watching a show on RFDTV , It has alot Indepetent artist that I have never heard of. Most of all the material is orginal, some with steel some with out, but if you have an open mind it pretty good. Because I play in Tex two or three times a year, I know some of the players an singers or from Tex. Can any one tell me more about the show an how it got started, an where they do the filming at. I played on the segment with Houston Marchman. I was impressed by the production at the time. The thing was shot in 3-D, which is cool. The sound crew seemed to know what they were doing. Bottom line was, they spent a ton of money!
When I saw/heard the results on TV, I was shocked how HORRIBLE the sound was. They played canned crowd noise over the whole thing which is so fake and annoying. This was supposed to be patterned and rival Austin City Limits. What a joke! When the artist is talking, you hear that crowd noise. It's really funny. I have a friend who was involved in the production. He did some MC and interviewing. He quit. Someone bit the big one on this. I'm ashamed of my involvement in this. |

I was a video editor in NYC for 5 years and I gotta say most producers are not music people, even those doing music shows.
They are there to get the "performance" on screen and not much else.
They seem to think it's a visual thing and the music is just an excuse to do video, and the crowd is as important as the music ( ambience) or artist ( optical subject).
Some get it more right than others.
Many editors haven't much of an idea about it either, but generaly the guy who writes the check is in charge with 'His Idea". |
