Years (and years) ago, I had an old tape (pre cassete) which had a song I think was called Big Mable Murphy. Goes " Way back in 29, down by the river, there was a honky tonk they called Big Mable Murphy's. Now Big Mable Murphy, loved little Melvin, and every nite she'd put some knuckle bumps on his head" That's all I remember. It starts out with a straight beat and then progresses into a blues/jazz tempo. No steel but it could be updated to use steel. Really neat song. Any info will be appreciated. |

Emmett, could be that Sue Thompson had a version but Dallas Frazier wrote it and its his recording thats on The Record Lady's website. I know that Dallas Frazier was(is) a monster writer and he did record several albums on his own. In case you haven't been to the Record Lady's web site, check it out as its "awsome" with old songs. http://recordlady.webgcs.com/

Ray, That's it!!! I really appreciate your help. And many thanks to the record lady for all the work she's done on her site. There's a lot more in there I want to look at. I have a lot of the old records and I may send her some of them. Of course, she's probably gott'em all. Thanks again. Roger |
