You Guys are so doggone good on here, I know some one will have the answer. George Jones and , I believe Merle Haggard , had a song with the line " I MUST HAVE DONE SOMETHING BAD IN MY LIFE" , and I can't find it anywhere. I need the recording because I don't remember the melody at all. Thanks Guys, Jim Miller I'D RATHER BE STEELIN'

Jimmy:
Song was recorded by George Jones, called "I Must Have Done Something Bad". Be glad to send you an mp3 of it if you want one.
Recorded in 1996. John Hughey on steel.

Haggard also recorded it. I believe it was sometime in the late 70's/early 80's. I have it on vinyl somewhere.

Merle actually had the first cut on this Red Lane song. It was on his 1979 "Serving 190 Proof" album. I've got the vinyl and cassette. Haven't found it on CD or I would have it as well. One of my favorite Merle songs and albums.
{I'm editing this so as not to slight G. Jones or anyone who likes his version better. George certainly did a great job as well}
Respectfully,

Shucks! I'm just dying to know what you edited out, Dave.
I have that Hag record and it's on it's way to my CD burner when I get a chance to record it. I've also heard Jones sing it and I recall liking both versions despite my Hag bias.
