I recently sold my 1949 Bigsby volume/tone pedal to a man in Japan. He is an avid fan of Paul Bigsby and his work and asked if I had a picture of Paul. I don't have one -- and his question reminded me that I don't think I have ever seen a picture of him. I visited him quite often in the 50's but I'm not sure I would recognize his picture if I saw it after 50 years. I have searched the internet to no avail. It would be a real shame if there were no pictures floating around of that great and famous steel guitar pioneer.

If you happen to have a photo of him, I would appreciate a copy via email -- or, if you dont have a digital copy or a scanner, snail mail it to me and I will scan it in and make it available to others.

Thanks,

Roy

Roy; When Chas Smith and Jason Odd read this you'll have a picture if they have one.
I had a list of tunings once that I thought might have been from Paul but comparing it to a signature Chas had, discovered that it wasn't his handwriting.

I like to recall a comment of his about raising the third string G# to an A. His position was that it couldn't be done with any degree of reliability but that he would order a few thousand for those who insisted on having the change. Nowadays I suppose that would be all of us but then a lot of things have really improved since those days.

Regards, Paul

There's a photo of Bigsby with Merle Travis in Forrest White's book "Fender:The Inside Story".

Thanks, guys. A good friend saw this thread and emailed me a great picture of Paul. The friend wants to remain anonymous -- for fear that Leo Fender's ghost will haunt him.
