Does anyone remember singer/songwriter Linda Hargrove? I think she was at one time a protoge of Pete Drake and Michael Nesmith. I always enjoyed her music and wondered whatever happened to her. Maybe some of the Nashville folks will know...rj |

Yes!! Great songwriter. Some friends of mine from Grand Rapids MI. were part of her band namely, Tommy Davis on drums and Larry Ballard who recorded for Capitol and was produced by Pete Drake. BTW, Paul Franklin was the Steel Guitarist in that band. They appeared on an episode of Austin City Limits with Linda in the mid 70's. |

Actually I thought Larry's brother Bobby Ballard was the guitar player. Also, I seem to recall that my old buddy Tom Stolaski (who appears here occasionally) played steel after the album was released. I know he moved to Nashville with Tom Davis and that crew, but don't remember if it was to tour with Hargrove, Ballard, or all of the above.

Larry, You're right on Larry's bro being the lead guitarist on the ACL episode etc. I do have an audio tape that T. Davis gave me of a live Hargrove gig with P.F. on Steel. Because both Ballard and Hargrove were under the Pete Drake "umbrella", there may have been some "mix&match" band members. Maybe someone could shed some further light on these questions. BTW, Great set as always, at the G.R. show. F.R. |
