Tom Petty's websight reported the passing of former bass player Howie Epstein this morning.
A newspaper budyy confirmes it was at a hospital in Santa Fe. NM

I was wondering why he wasn't on the latest cd - his voice was a great counterpoint to Tom's.......

Wasn't Howie the one linked with Carlene Carter? I think he produced one of her albums.

He was 47
My buddy happens to work for the newspaper in Santa Fe where he died.
A female brought him to the hospital Sunday night under the influence of Heroin and other
drugs for recent illnesses.
