Billy judging from the split lineup I would agree.

I will forever be indebted to Bill Carlisle for giving me my first Opry gig. It was the summer of 1964, and I had just turned 18 on the first tour I did with him. Back then, Shiela was still in the group. Bill also "vouched" for me to get me in the Nashville local. Back in those days, you had to have a sponsor to join the union here, and Bill was mine. I continued to work the Opry with The Carlisles until I got drafted in 1966. Those were meager, but fun times at the Ryman.

I just caught the last part of the show tonight & herd the Possums new song, a real tear jerker. I love Jean Shepards voice, always have. I am fortunate enough to be doing some steel work for Mrs. Shepard in a couple of months

I had the pleasure of playing bass on a show for Jumpin Bill about 1965. I had played a few shows with Kenny Price and we were booked to play some type of a fair, somewhere in Illinois, with Bill on a package show, so we backed him up also. His daughter was with him then. I thought she was a nice looking girl too.

Rick,
Jean is a "hoot" to work with. She is a big steel guitar fan (just stay on the E9, though!)and her favorite is Ralph Mooney. She and Benny are a lot of fun and we have a lot of fun warming up back stage at the Opry before we go on. You never know what Jean will "whip up"...could be a Haggard song or Price song... but one thing is for sure "it will always be country!"

You will enjoy picken' with her. Good steel guitar music, always! Have fun and don't forget those occasional "Mooney" licks!

Dave Robbins
(steel player for Jean for almost ten years now)

Rick,
by the way, don't let the "finger behind the back" shake you up!

And, don't forget those occasional Mooney licks! She'll love ya!

By the way, STU BASORE played on the album cut "Slippin' Away." It is fun talking with him about how the arrangements for that song came to be.
Over the years, many a steel player has played on Jeans records. SPEEDY WEST played on a lot of the early stuff...BUDDY EMMONS... STU...many other great players!
And, "yours truly" even got to play on the last recording, "Tennessee Waltz". Who knows, you might even have to cop a lick or two of mine!

Have fun and let me know how it went.

Dave
