Over in "Steel Players" the war rages on about Jerry Garcia's steel pickin'. Sheesh! You'd think that folks would get beyond being intimidated by someone who's passed on. Those that like him, like him. Those that don't, don't. Lets move on.....
Anyway, the post that prompted that debate is titled CSN&Y. This brings me to the reason for this post. How many have heard the band CPR? What do you think of it?
For those not familiar, CPR is Crosby, Pevar, and Raymond as in David Crosby, Jeff Pevar, and James Raymond. We all know who David Crosby is (The Byrds, CSN, CNS&Y, etc.). Jeff Pevar is a outstanding guitarist who's worked with people as diverse as Ray Charles, James Taylor, Rickie Lee Jones, Joe Cocker, B.B. King, and Phil Lesh. James Raymond is David Crosby's son who has worked as a keyboard player and composer in television and film.
This is a great band. It incorporates the intricate vocal harmonies (a hallmark for David Crosby) with great songs that blend folk and rock with an Ellington-esque jazz feel. Imagine what CSN would be like if they were a jazz-influenced new act. That's what CPR is like. Check 'em out. They're on Samson Music and Gold Circle Entertainment.
Keep on pickin'!
