The world of music has suffered a great loss for sure. John Floyd (AKA Sleepy John) one of southern Virginia's premier bass players has abandoned the Bass!!!!!!! I can't believe it. He's now on the road to becoming one of our premier lead guitarists. John told me that he orginally was a guitar player but while in Nashville he happened to encouter a legendary West Coast Player (AL BRUNO) and decided to give up the guitar in favor of the bass. I'm glad he did as we've worked some good gigs together and have become good friends away from the music as well. I called John about a bass gig a few days ago and he said he couldn't play bass anymore as he'd mess up his nails! What do you think of that? A few years ago you never heard of anything like that! How many of you guitar players use artificial nails? I use them on acoustic guitar but I use finger picks on electric. Anyway, Ol' John is going to be a great addition to the lead guitar world as he's got some great technique and with a little more experience in a band he'll be a real contender.....Look out Earl Erb, Gregg Galbraith, Brent Mason, etc. Sleepy John is out for blood.....

Good to be back. Boy do you ever have the old part right, turned 61 on the 2nd. I Sure as Hell ain't no competition for you, but I would love to visit and steal some of your licks someday as well as Earl's and Gregg's. I feel like I'm getting to the point where I can steal some of them anyway
