Atta Boy Gregg!

After listening to my new copy "From The Heart" by Gene Watson, I am glad to report that the Electric Lead Guitar is alive and doing quite well on RMG records. "She Had Me" very tasteful Les Paul locked in the front position! "The Man An Me and You" awesome twin guitar work "Colvardesque" I love it! "No Trash In My Trailer" the first time I heard the break I thought it was a steel guitar, had to interrupt and backtrack to make sure. Producers need to take notice and start leaning toward this style of Lead work, it might turn country music around in the right direction. The musicianship on this CD is excellent, there are some radio hits on here.....but will country radio make a spot for them?. I hope so! Atta boy Gregg!

Larry! I love the new word you came up with! "Colvardesque" I'm not sure how many will, get it, but I sure did! Jimmy was the first Guitar player I worked with,{before his Nashville days} way back when, Being he was from my town! >Al Udeen

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Sounds great.
Now who did GG tell us played the steel on this album?
It's on my list, which I mostly fulfill at birthday and Christmas time. Thanks to my family.

Kudos to Gene and Ray Pennington for giving Gregg some much deserved latitude on this mighty fine CD. Like Larry, I was initally fooled by the steel emulation on "Ain't No Trash In My Trailer." I also think Gregg's solo on "I Never Go Around Mirrors" is a classic, and the stacked guitar at the end of it kicks a**! There's a reason he's been one of the most respected guitarists in Nashville for 30 plus years, and his work here will come as no surprise to many. Perhaps the operative term here is "Galboesque"..........

Gregg is one of those player that you love and hate at the same time. He (and Buddy,)played some incredible stuff on my brother, Wayne's, CD, "Maniac". I had to get him to tab the stuff for me and I still can't pull it off.
Gregg amazes me!

You too, huh?
I think they invented the word
"SUPERPICKER" just to describe Gregg.
Ok, Earl too

Didn't want to ignore all the earlier comments so I resurrected this thread instead of starting anew.
LOL! at No Trash in My Trailer...
There ain't no trash in my trailer
...Though they might find an empty can of beer
There ain't been no trash in my trailer (lord, lord)
Since the day I threw you out of here...
Followed by that by killer steel guitar by Big E!
Then there's this one: "... Would it be cheatin' if I still loved the girl you used to be..."
Now that's country!
I sort of pity country radio, oblivious to this great, great country music and ever seeking the latest Three-Minute Positive Not Too Country Up Tempo Love Song (Alan Jackson).
Others have complimented Gene's vocals and the great musicianship of Gregg Galbraith, Buddy Emmons and others. I would add that they've got lots of my favorite kind of song writing -- where they play off the ambiguity of a word or phrase. Country songwriters are the very best at that trick.
If you liked the ending on Farewell Party, there's one in here for you. I won't tell you, but you'll definitely feel it coming.
BTW: Is "lostest" a word?
