Run don't walk to the TV for the west coast broadcast and reruns
Tommy and Pee Wee were Smokin.
The only bad thing was Charlie Louvins vocals.
Also for the record look for that Del McCoury
album on my top 10 this year

Hi All;
Janice has it dead right when she says:
"Run don't walk to the TV for the west coast broadcast and reruns
Tommy and Pee Wee were Smokin.
The only bad thing was Charlie Louvins vocals."
It was GREAT-GREAT JOB Tommy & Pee Wee!!!!!!

Janice, "smokin'" is definately one word to describe Tommy's playing tonight. The other word I thought of as I listened to him on the various styles of songs is "craftsman". I don't know if it's quite the right word, but he played outstanding stuff at the just the right time, everytime.

T Graham wasn't bad at all but neither was Del. I too would have liked to have seen the Whites but I enjoyed Del's portion of the show also. Theresa, there isn't anything left for us to disagree on. What are we going to do?

Whew! That was the best hour of the Opry I've seen since the switch to CMT. I had to call and make sure my dad caught the repeat at 10. I thought Tommy's playing was great; it was the most coverage he's gotten on the televised portion in a while. I thought Jason Carter's fiddling far outweighed Del's nasal vocals and made for some great bluegrass. I'm calling our local radio station and daring them to start regularly playing David Ball's Amigo, and I'm asking all of you forumites to do the same. Good luck to those of us who play and enjoy good traditional country music.

Funny, you didn't hear certain ones wanting to hear the Whites before they became famous (?) with the soundtrack CD. I guess it's OK to like an artist after they reach a certain amount of album sales.
The Del McCoury band is one of the finest bluegrass groups around today. And that's the cold hard facts of life!!

Kevin,
I'd much rather hear the vocals of the Whites and thats before the Oh Brother soundtrack. Sorry, it's hard for me to believe Del's nasal voice could sell records. JMO

James,
Still didn't change my mind about Del. Whites sing better and they use steel!

Theresa: With a Hook like he had on the song: The Girl On The Billboard; ie: With nothing on but a smile and a towel: you could sell anything !!
BTW, on my way home from playing I caught Mike Snyder on the last portion of saturdays show doing something new: "If my nose was rich, I'd blow it all on you. But it's not !! " I know he's funny but WHOA HORSEY !
If I wasn't quoting somebody, b0b might put me over in that OFF TOPIC Forum for saying something like that !!
Regards, Paul

Paul,
I was talking about Del McCoury. I guess he sells big in bluegrass. I never heard of him, and was surprised he made T.V.
