Check out "unidentified mourner" with Vince in this AP photo at Chet's funeral. Looks like Haggard to me!

Bill, there were a good many famous musicians at Chet's funeral. I didn't see Merle, but if he was present no one would have been surprised. After the service, I stopped briefly and watched as the pallbearers (one of whom was Vince) placed Chet in the hurse. Vince was visibly shaken,as were others and I just started feeling really bad. Meanwhile, a large group of tourist-types were clicking cameras and talking about this star and that star. The people near me seemed oblivious to the fact that this was this man's funeral. I wasn't very comfortable being among them and I left. It was a very nice service, lasting about an hour.

That's not the Hag. The guy in the picture is still relatively young and not "roadbeaten".

It will be great if at least that many people show up for Johnny Russell's memorial service at the Ryman.

The last I heard, Johnny's funeral will be at the Opry. That was this morning. Maybe it's been changed. Way too many funerals goin' on around here lately To top it off, someone was shot and killed 2 houses down from mine just a couple days ago. Nice quiet neighborhood. Guess you never know. Not a good week....at all.
