I've been playing hs fantastic CD, "Loud Music and Strong Wine", all week to and from work.
Anyone who puts a 4-part turnaround -- steel, fiddle, steel and fiddle -- in the first cut is fine by my standards.
I didn't realize Justin was blind.

Thank you very much for posting this information about Justin, as i learned alot from reading it. I have seen him perform several times now and have two of his CD's, but the first cassette is apparently out of print and I cant get it. Anyway, I saw Justin this weekend in Wichita Falls at the "Legends of Western Swing Festival". He played bass with Johnny Bush and sang a couple of numbers. What a great great talent ! Like you, I listen to his CDs over and over again ! |

I probably play steel on more than half of Justin's gigs (in the Cornell Hurd and Johnny Bush bands), sharing the duties with Rick Price, Jim Loessberg, and Dickey Overby... so I'm in great company!
It's really a pleasure to play and travel with a man who is so talented, so intelligent and well-spoken, and with such incredible knowledge of traditional country and how it's performed and recorded. He's mature far beyond his 28 years, and not only does he not let his "handicap" affect his outlook on life and his friends, he almost has a sense of humor about it. Needless to say, I could write a piece for Reader's Digest under "most remarkable person I know."
BTW, I've known him since he was 14 and he was an amazing singer then as well!

I had the pleasure of playing steel with Justin and Johnny Bush a couple of weeks ago at a local club here in San Angelo, Texas. He is a really talented young man and sings country the way it's supposed to be. I really enjoyed the gig and look forward to working with him in the future if the opportunity arises. |
