My son, the punk rocker on BRRAPP records, hands me a Willie Nelson CD, the Milk Cow Boogie album. Says, "Have you heard this?"

I say, "What are you doing with a Willie Nelson album?"

He says, "It's cool. Willie is like John Lennon, a singular voice of his generation."

Comments?

Ken, does your son play in a ska-punk band?

I do like to see people stretching beyond their usual genre.

My daughter listen's to anything from rock, rap, country the new bluegrass Nickel Creek. Yes, she's almost 18 and likes just about everything and doesn't have comtempt for new or past music. Oh, to be young again! Maybe we all could take a lesson from the younger generation?

My daughter, who is in college, has very diverse taste in music. She likes it all, however, not much old country. She has always been able to hear a song the first time and know every word. That blows me away. She was classical trained in piano all her life until college. She doesn't play at all now. I feel like some day her music knowledge will come out. My son, is 16 and plays drums in a alt/rock band. Mainly Christian rock. Cool stuff. He works hard every day. He is already very good. If he keeps this up, he'll be a monster player. Both my kids come hear me play and have for years. Neither one is into what I do that much, but that's OK. We're even.

Oh, to reply on the subject. Sorry...I was braggin'on the kids. My son came home the other day with The Beatles box set and asked me if I had heard this. You see, if you leave them alone, they will find greatness on their own.

Chris,
It's great your kids are wanting to hear you also! You must be doing something right.
My daughter Megan also took piano lessons, unfortunately stopped years ago. She'll graduate this month and has been taking an interest again in playing.
Music is great!

My son, Chase, just turned 6-months, and seems to respond with particular enthusiasm to Hank Thompson & the Brazos Valley Boys.

Aren't Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson the same generation?... seriously.

Ron, don't even get me started on that K-Mart punk band that shares a name with this topic. Grrrrr...

Yes, he is in The Honkeys. I am surprised anyone here would know that.
