That song appeared on the "Who Are These Guys?" album by NRPS. It came out in '77, and no one else has done it since. You might try e-bay for the album...click the link below.

Is that the same song as "Give Me A Red Hot Mama And An Ice Cold Beer"? That "Hillbilly Boogie" disc has the aforementioned song by Smiley Maxedon on it. BTW: Ernest Tubb didn't mind being called a hillbilly, but you'd better be smiling when you said it!

| There is a great version of that tune by a band called "Chuck Wagon and the Wheels". I like that version better than the NRPS version. You might find their alblum in a used record shop or on the net somewhere. |

I went to see The New Riders w/Buddy Cage around 1979 or so at the Palomino and much to my dismay,Cage wasn't with them and instead,they had some guy named Pete Grant.My disappointment quickly disappeared though when I heard Pete dig into "Red Hot Women and Ice Cold Beer". To top it off,I looked over at the next table and none other than Mick Jagger and his wife Jerry Hall were singing along w/the hook while waving pitchers of beer over their heads and sloshing it all over me and my wife.It was one of those moments-you had to be there....
BTW,Jagger is a HUGE West Coast C&W fan. -MJ- |

Michael, I can only assume that Pete was a temp on the night, I think he was with the Pal's main band at the time..so it's possible.
The New Riders did split then try reforming again, but Buddy was the first to bail on that.
The New Riders are still chugging along to this day, which is pretty amazing.
