Just wondering if anyone has any information on the new Beatles compilation of number one hits entitled "1"? Are the tracks remastered?
Anybody heard it yet?

Yep, instead of "1", it should have been titled "Capitol Milks the Beatles One more time" By the way, when is the new Chris Gaines "1" coming out?

Hm, seems like christmas is comin' nearer and nearer....do we really have to buy this stuff all over again??!! Image

I think it is not worth the money. If they are only putting number #1 songs on it, there'd be no "Strawberry Fields/Penny Lane" included !! What a shame, maybe their best 45.

Apparently they are remastered, and yeah the big appeal of the whole deal is that you can have all their No#1 hits on one collection.

To be honest I think it's a bit of a rip-off and smacks of pandering to the obsessive and those who don't have any Beatles on CD (which is not to say they don't have any of the old albums).

To ne this is the "What if you could have all thier hits on one set, wouldn't that be cool"..scenario.
But to me this sort of crap is totally unrepresentational of a group and I have nothing but contempt for the whole project.
I do have all the offical albums, and a couple of compilations or b-sides and rarer non album singles, but this is just a disgraceful cash-cow.
Another Christmas stocking filler. Okay some people get a kick out of it and will buy it and fair enough.

Does the world really need another Beatles compilation though?

The fact that they are remastered is enough to spark some interest.

The mastering on the first 4 or 5 Beatle CDs is so awful!!!! I have bootleg vinyl records with alternate cuts that sound MUCH better. I would like to know who did the remastering---Geoff Emerick maybe??

There will never be enough rehashing of Beatle stuff as long as the 60s people are alive.

Bill, which Cd remaster?
When the Cds were issued in the 1980s, pretty much all the rolling Stones, Beatles etc were rushed out and some of the Cd versions really sounded like.

Then the Beatles box set came out in the late 1980s, with a remaster (the vinyl version was excellent!)..as to what's being issued now, besides the new one, who knows?

The question is..how many times are people going to buy these same songs.

Tyler, the only information I know for sure about the new Beatles compilation is that Michael Jackson is fixin' to make some more money.

I think it's another case of Crapitol milking its #1 cash cow..........

HOWEVER..... there IS a positive angle to be looked at......... IF this CD sells... oh, say 20 million or so..... it would make it DIFFICULT for another artist... who ALSO records for Crapitol.... to surpass the Beatles' sales figures........ I kinda like that idea........

I guess, but people could actually buy something else, good god, maybe even something by someone they have never heard before.

It's always disconcerting Image to me to hear the compilations because the song I know comes next never does...
