Dave, she was a featured vocalist with Roy Acuff & the Smokey Mtn Boys. I remember seeing her when I was a kid. I've wondered myself, what ever happened to her. Mr. Acuff had another female singer after her; June Stearns. I don't know what happened to her, either.

Dave, I think she's still around. She'd be in her mid-60's, and along with working with Roy Acuff, she worked for awhile for Little Jimmie Dickens too. Along with the song you mentioned, she recorded "Mansion on the Hill" in the '50s, and another song "It's Too Late When Love Dies". She also appeared on several country TV shows in the '50s. In the '60s, she recorded "You Take The Table, and I'll Take The Chairs" with Jim Gallion. She also played rhythm guitar on one of Porter Wagoner's albums in the late '70s. I haven't heard from her lately, though. |
