Pop Goes the Country -- Sara Evans

Well, with her new CD, "Born to Fly", I've added Sara to my list of former country favorites. I have 3 CD's each progressively more Pop.

The latest CD credits Robbie Turner and Dan Dougmore on steel guitar. There is some good steel on the CD, but its pretty sparing. That's certainly not meant to criticize the players, but to describe the production of the album. I know Robbie can put it in your face whenever given the chance. I'm glad they used Robbie. I just wish he'd gotten more equal mixing... Then again that might make the album too country. Image

I've added this one to my teenage daughter's collection. She likes all of Sara's albums. I much prefer "Three Chords and the Truth".

I should also have mentined that I'd still love to catch her act again, assuming she'll do some tunes from 3 Chords...

I saw her in a little honky tonk before she had the #1 with No Place That Far. Got to chat with her, told her to tour with a steel next time, and got her to sign my CD. She really puts on a great show.

Not that I haven't noticed how fine she looks -- I always flip to the inside photos when opening her new CDs -- but ooh that voice!

The Politically Correct Dictionary states that a 'b*t*h'is someone who is assertive and secure in their own self. ImageI don't have any first hand knowledge that Sara is,but if she is it will come back to haunt her.Record companies will tolerate that personna as long as they are making money.Sorta' reminds me of Janie Fricke. There was a time when she was as hot as a fire cracker in July, (jingles,tv,and radio commercials and lots of hit records)now she sells her CD's out of the trunk of her car at whatever dates she can get booked using whatever house band is available and couldn't get a record deal if she sold her soul. The point to all this is...I hope all these young ones enjoy their day in the sun because their sun will set sooner than they think. We'll just have to see who stands the test of time. Not many of them will. No one above is country. George Jones IS TRADITIONAL COUNTRY. Alan Jackson and George Strait is Country but not Traditional Country. That's all there is to it.

OK Richard - it's a deal. If I lose, I'll go on a date with K.D. Lang ...but only if she'll bring along one of her friends....

I would have like to have come over to your jam on the 12th, but I'll be away all that week at a conference. Hopefully, it will be big success and you'll have another before too long.

Regards,
Steve
