Gene Watson was fantastic!!!!!!

Post by Paul Stertz »

I saw Gene Watson perform last night at a place in Amity, Pa. called Rinky Dink's Roadhouse (probably the LAST honky-tonk in this area). I personally didn't care for the opening band, Big Guns, as they were too much of a rock band for my tastes. But when Gene came out, he put on one heck of a show!
Gene played a great selection of hits, as well as some new songs which he hasn't recorded yet. He said he wanted to see what kind of response he'd get before he went into the studio with it.

I also had the opportunity to speak to Corky last night. He is one of the nicest people you'd ever want to meet, and one heck of a steel player. Corky played flawlessly. BTW, I told him he needs to get on the forum. He asked for the URL, so he may wind up joining us here on the forum.

If any of you folks get the opportunity to catch one of Gene Watson's shows with Corky on the steel, GO SEE IT!! You won't be sorry.

Looks like Aug. 4th in Xenia, OH is a possibility for me...

Are there a new Gene Watson CD out? The last one I have is "A Way to Survive"; at least I think that was the title cut. It sounds like there's at least one in the future planning stage.
