Raymond L. Clark

ST. ALBANS, Maine (AP) - Raymond L. Clark, who entertained people for seven decades by singing and yodeling authentic cowboy songs, died Wednesday. He was 82.

Clark, known as ``Yodeling Slim'' Clark, began recording in New York in the 1940s.

He made more than 100 recordings throughout his career and long remained active as a solo performer at concerts, festivals and rodeos with just a guitar to accompany him.

In 1996, Clark was inducted into the Walkway of Stars at the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville, Tenn., and in the Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Maine country music halls of fame.

Clark is to be inducted into the Cowboy Music Hall of Fame in Tucson, Ariz., in November.

Among his best-known songs were ``The Strawberry Roan,'' ``The Cat Comes Back,'' ``Rocky Mountain Yodeler'' and ``When You're Blue Just Yodel.''
