Ricky, the song "Legends" will be so perfect for the show. You did that last Oct when I first saw you guys in Austin. Dale led into that tic-toc-tic-toc on his telecaster right after talking about the bad shape that Johhny Cash was in at a Nashville hospital and singing a chilling "I Still Miss Someone"..... then listening to his commentary lyrics of "Legends", I stood there paralyzed with a lump in my throat - I so sincerely hope that it comes off that way for the Opry crowd and the folks watching on TV at home.
"Legends" is a great song --- "Murder on Music Row" with greater personal and heartfelt reverence, a tribute that only Dale Watson could likely pull off. You cannot listen to him do that song and not be 100% fully convinced that he absolutley means every word.... and that he'd bust anyone's ass that would suggest otherwise!

Hey BJ I played on "Truckin' Sessions" and "People I've know and Places I've Seen".
"Legends" is not on any CD now. We cut that on the sire/warner project but as you know from my other post; Dale dropped that deal cause they couldn't find a distributor because those sessions were "Too Country"; as they said.>Go figure.
Ricky
See ya'll there.

Isn't it cool, to see an entertainer and his band, select material that is appropriate for the venue!? I wish that more of the "Lucky Ones", who get the opportunity to grace that stage, were as respectful and concerned! Go Ricky!!

Ricky - as you might imagine, having you comment that the Warner/Sire sessions are still in the can because they've been considered "too country" only makes me so much more eager for it to be pressed and out. It is frustrating to think that this can be the case, having what we know will be great stuff on a back-burner somewhere.
I'll be pouring some Beam on a glass of ice Sat night to raise a toast to you guys when they call you onto the Opry stage.... cheers to Dale Watson and his Lone Stars!

Despite the TV segment being expanded to an hour, they couldn't seem to fit Dale in. I for sure would have selected Dale over just about ever artist they had on.
I was disappointed, but hope Dale and Cheatin' Heartaches were well received by the Opry audience. I hope the experience was a fine finale for our friend Ricky Davis.
