Starting Thursday with Willie Nelson, MerleFest 2000 kicks off in Wilkesboro, NC. then it's Nancy Griffith and the Blue Moon Orchestra, Sam Bush, the String Cheese Incident, John Cowan,Gillian Welch, and David Rawlings. Info at www.merlefest.org . Sounds like a good one..anyone going besides me?

I forgot to mention Doc Watson, Jim Lauderdale, Ralph Stanley, and Peter Rowan...now how did I do THAT?
[This message was edited by Kathryn Sabey on 21 April 2000 at 05:40 PM.]

If there was only one man at this festival, with his Guitar, It would be one of the Best Festivals anyone could ever Go to, that Man is Doc Watson himself. He is the Greatest, and the man plays well enough to be a one man show. His Very Best Album was made in the 60s with Just Doc, no one with him. This Album turned me on to Doc Watson, and so I have been a fan for at least for 35 years, purchasing many of his CDs, and seeing Doc in person once. Doc is not only a Great guitar player and singer, he is one heck of an entertainer.

Hey Kathryn,
Thanks for the info! I didn't know you were into this kind of music! You never cease to amaze me. I love this stuff to. One of these days I'm finally going to get to make it to a MerleFest. There's a lot of good acoustic music going on here where I live too. We have some good pickers. If you ever get up here we'll have to check it out.

Have a good one! JH U-12
