I am reseaching country music parks and local Opry type shows for an exhibit in the new Country Music Hall of Fame. Any info on shows like Sunset Park, Little Nashville Opry, etc. will be well appreciated, especially classic traditional venues. Also, what are/were best State Fairs for country music. The "old time" park that I remember is Valley View Park in Hellam Pa (York Pa area). It was run, at one time, by Shorty and Sally Fincher who had appeared on the Old Dominion Barn Dance in Richmond Va. It was a Sunday afternoon outdoor park venue. They would have either an Opry act or a Wheeling Jamboree act and then a couple of local bands. Some of the surviving acts from that era that are still around are Little Jimmy Dickens and Wilma Lee Cooper, but anyone who was anyone in it's hey day appeared at Valley View Park. It was still going in the mid 60's but I don't know how long it really lasted.
